Active ingredients of the extract are magnolol and honokinol. Its pharmacological effects: resisting bacteria and ulcer sedate the central nerves and smooth the muscles. Especially, magnolol resists gram-positive bacterium, acid-fast bacillus and hyphomycetes significantly and inhibits perversive streptococci.
